A good fifteen hundred meters above the plains with cool mist capped  mountains among rich loamy plantations of tea, coffee, rubber, orange, spices. Vast open grasslands lined with gargling rivulets are hill stations of Kerala.

Now Travel through some of the important hill stations ....

MUNNAR 

Accessing Munnar:

Distance from kochi - 130 kms
Distance from Thiruvananthapuram - 302 kms 

The nature lovers paradise ....with a sense of peace, where you can fill your holidays with quiet moments at 1600m above sea level. Munnar is situated at the confluence of 3 mountain streams- Mudrapuzha, Nallathanni, Kundala. Sprawling tea plantations, picture book towns, winding lanes and holiday facilities make this a popular hill station. 

Among the exotic flora found in the forests and grasslands here is the Neelakurinji -a rare beautiful blue flower which bloom once every 12 years is a wonderful sight. It covers the hill with blue color. The next time the flower bloom is in 2006 AD. The highest peak of South India, Anamudi which has an height of 2695m is an ideal spot for trekking.

NELLIYAMPATHY

Nelliyampathy hills comprise a chain of ridges cut off from one another by valleys of dense ever green forest and orange plantations. This fascinating hill station is at a height of 467-1572m above sea level. At least 10 hair pin bends have to be negotiated on the Ghat road that passes through the breath taking ever green forest of the Sahya Ranges.

Seethakundu at Nelliyampathy offers a panoramic view of about one third of Palakkad. And has excellent trekking trails. The community hall at Kaikatty provides good place for trekkers. En route from Palakkad, the shimmering Pothundi Reservoir and its manicured surroundings make for the ideal stop over. The highest peak is Nellikota on Padagiri-15.232m above sea level.

WAYANAD
Wayanad is a feast for eyes with luxuriant plantations of coffee, tea, cardamom, pepper & rubber stretch over the hills. The name 'Wayanad' means the land of paddy field. The views turn from narrow canals, dense vegetations to open vistas and dazzling green paddy fields. It preserves rural Kerala life style, with the fast flowing rivers cutting across the undulating panorama is a wonderful sight seeing area. Natural

  rock caves with ancient carvings and pictorial writings speaks of a highly civilized people at an early centre of human habitation. Banasura sagar dam is another picnic spot. The eye- catching backdrop of Brahma giri hills lend an idyllic charm to Thirunelly where you can get the blessings of Lord Vishnu from  Thirunelly temple called as the kasi of south touched by the soothing streams of Papanasini provides eternal bliss to searching pilgrim. Pookat lake with its own dream like serenity and Mananthavady, historically important as the last resting place of pazhassirajah who fought  a guerilla war against the British.

DEVIKULAM
A dainty town 16 kms south west of Munnar is a perfect picture of fairy tale enchantment. Irresistibly green slopes touching the sky at a thousand meters, silent clusters of slender red & blue gum trees, a  lovely little lake hidden within the rolling hills attracts nature lovers from far and wide. 

There is a legendry story behind the name & it is that once Sita devi, the holy consort of Lord Rama, came down to frolic in the lake and the place came to spoken about as Devikulam  which means the lake of goddess.

Distance from kottayam - 132 kms

PEERMADE
Vast expenses of tea plantations inter spaced with water falls & grass lands, 915 kms above sea level. Peermade is a pleasant hill station on the way to Thekkady from Kottayam.

Even on a fairly warm day the weather ranges from 5 degree Celsius & 10 degree Celsius, so it is a suitable summer resort.It is one of the most fertile and scenic parts of the Western Ghats. Peermade covers delightful trekking trails & panoramic views abound. Trekking areas are Kalthotti, Karandakapara, Peeru hills.

Idukki Town - 65 kms

 Ponmudi 

This hill station comprise breath taking views out across the range as far as the sea. It is situated at an attitude of 1066 meters. Trekking is a passion to visitors. 

Hill ranges full of tea estates and mist covered valleys, Ponmudi throws up other surprises too- a charming deer park only 3 kms away from the resort and golden valley- a pretty picnic spot with natural springs is at a little further down the hill.
